ViciousOnslaught Update : New Version Made/Level Info

Today I worked on a new version of ViciousOnslaught, my free upcoming FPS Game.  This version has some major changes. Biggest change is the inclusion of a new level people and a new monster. That monster, is nothing short of horrifying. To understand this addition proper, we need to go back in time to the ViciousOnslaught design document which has been long lost.

A long time ago I read up on paranormal related topics. And one story scared the crap out of me. But also intrigued me. The disturbing tales of the appearances of what people in Cornwall, England call the Owlman. Supposedly seen only by young women vacationing around a famous church, this thing is described as half bird, half demon. It has the face of a demon but a bird's body everywhere else. It's facial expression is terrifying.  I can't describe what it looks like too well so here is my drawing of it I used for ViciousOnslaught... Yes that's right the enemy that I added is the Owlman....

 A long time after reading up on the sightings of it, I planned a level idea involving Asshole Fighting it.  In this concept, you would have a level in the forest around that church. That level involved you journeying through the forest, only to be attacked from behind, by the Owlman itself. It would then vanish. Then it would do the same thing again a few minutes later and keep doing the same thing till you entered the church and found a magical weapon that was capable of killing it. Normal weapons had no effect on it because it was a Demon from hell, and not a mutant.  It always existed around there and was not on Damian Ichabod's side (Damian Ichabod being the cult leader villian of the story of ViciousOnslaught). You would have to defeat it to continue in the game. The mission was conceived to be  the scariest level the game had. 

Well I mapped the level itself today. I made it a mazey forest. It is mazey and confusing and has long corridors with trees in them. There are no enemies in the level itself, a weird design decision. Every time the game counts a random amount of seconds from 30 to 60, the game spawns and "Owldemon" in to kill you. The owldemon cannot be seen, usually. But if he attacks you can see him, and his bite attack is fatal.  Injuring him can also make him visible, if you know where to shoot.  Forcefields help a lot in the fight, and so do Turrets. The only way to beat the map is to go into the abandoned church and activate the back of the Altar. This causes a confrontation to happen where you have to fight him and once that happens, you have to survive for 2 minutes without the tons of Owlmen killing you to beat the mission. As you can see this is a little different than the idea from the design document, but I think it's just as scary...

Mission 25 : Montreal, Canada - Objective : Save the City from a massive city sized space ship that will destroy it if you don't do that.

Mission 26 : Reaper Class Cruiser - Objective : Destroy the City Sized Space Ship above Montreal




 Mission 27 : Cape Canaveral, FLA - Objective, Take A space ship up to an orbiting space station that has nuclear weapons pointing at earth and a Mad AI controlling it threatening to nuke cities from Orbit.



Mission 29 : Antarctica - Objective : Find a way to an underground base that has an enterance to an underwater tunnel that links to the ruins of washington DC and Baltimore...




 Now I know I didn't show off all the missions here but most were screenshotted. I think  they look good. Most are randomly generated, but map 24 is not. That's the only one that isn't because making a church in a randomly generated map would have been almost impossible, so mapping that one map from scratch was necessary.
